From exciting enhancements to the Lightning Platform to innovative breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (AI), learn about new features across our clouds. Get your org ready for the release and ensure customer success at every turn.
    • How to Use the Release Notes
Our release notes offer brief, high-level descriptions of enhancements and new features. We include setup information, tips to help you get started, and best practices to ensure your continued success.
    • How and When Do Features Become Available?
Some features in Spring ’18 affect all users immediately after the release goes live. Consider communicating these changes to your users beforehand so that they’re prepared. Other features require direct action by an administrator before users can benefit from the new functionality.
    • Supported Browsers
We’ve made some changes to our supported browsers documentation, making it easier to find what you need. Supported browsers for Salesforce vary depending on whether you use Salesforce Classic or Lightning Experience.
    • Salesforce Overall: Improved Productivity with Lightning Experience Personalized Navigation, Themes, and Surveys
Personalize your app’s navigation bar to suit the unique way you work. Explore the new themes, macros, and quick text. Create beautiful, easy-to-use forms for collecting feedback and data from your users or customers. Lightning Console Apps has something new for every admin, agent, and developer. Filters arrive to Account and File search results. And regardless of the regulations and policies with which you’re complying for data protection and privacy, we give you guidance in evaluating the best way to meet your requirements.
    • Lightning Experience: A Modern and Intelligent User Experience
Lightning Experience is a completely reimagined interface. Even better, it’s built on our UI platform, so the experience can grow and evolve with your needs. Check out the new features and considerations in this release.
    • Salesforce Einstein: Opportunity Scoring, Forecasting, Easier Setup, and Other Enhancements

    • Marketing: Content Sharing, Enhanced SMS and Push Messages, and Other Features
Build a single view of customer-leveraging data from any source. Plan and optimize unique customer journeys based on your company’s business objectives. And deliver personalized content across every channel and device at the right time. Marketing Cloud helps marketers measure the impact of each interaction on your business to optimize your approach and deliver better results.
    • Service: Knowledge Article Sharing, Return Orders, and Mass Quick Actions for Cases
Build a stellar customer service experience with Service Cloud Essentials, a new edition of Service Cloud tailored to the needs of small businesses. Boost your Knowledge efforts with export functions, article sharing, and translation approval processes, and incorporate the Knowledge component into your Live Agent implementation. Track field service product returns and repairs with the help of return orders, get up to speed quickly with a new guided setup, and customize the Field Service Lightning mobile app experience by user profile. Enjoy mass quick actions for cases and leads, macro support for all objects, and a more powerful Snap-ins SDK. Finally, take advantage of a host of improvements to Service Cloud in Lightning Experience, including quick text support, a dressed-up social conversation sidebar, and a richer Live Agent experience.
    • Analytics: Reports and Dashboards and Einstein Analytics
Powerful and familiar features grace the second beta release of the Lightning report builder: bucket columns, cross filters, and summary formulas. Subscribe to Lightning Experience dashboards, and give them a splash of color. Help users get started in Einstein Analytics with integrated and fun learning features. Quickly query and visualize data in a guided, natural language conversation (beta). Save views of dashboards that you’ve set up with your preferred selections and filters. Have Einstein analyze your report data with Einstein Data Insights (pilot).
    • Communities: Distributed Marketing, 1-to-1 Journeys, and New Support Components
Communities get an even jauntier spring to its step with an abundance of cool features. The Community Cloud is better integrated with the Marketing Cloud with two new features. Partner communities can now take advantage of distributed marketing, which allows partners to use preconfigured customizable campaigns when marketing new programs. Lightning communities can use personalized email journeys to help onboard community members and nurture relationships. Other fabulous additions include customer communities, which can now use the Contact Support Form and Case Deflection components together to help customers find solutions to their issues before they even file a case.
    • Chatter: Improved Following, More In-App Notifications, Share Links to Posts
The What I Follow feed is focused on who you actually follow. When people mention one of your groups, you can get an in-app notification. Easily share a link to a post.
    • Files: Managing Library Membership, File Preview on the Go, Using Quip with Salesforce
Give your team a way to preview files on the go. Quickly access your most recent asset files, allow standard users to create assets, and provide customers with a way to create asset files that unauthenticated users can access. Flow is a new way to use the File Upload component. Add library members from the Files Home tab with the new Library Member Management feature. Use the Quip Guided setup to integrate Quip and Salesforce.
    • Salesforce Integrations: Let Users Add WebEx Meetings to Salesforce Events
Salesforce users who also use Cisco WebEx for their meetings can add their personal room or a new meeting to Salesforce events. This change applies to Lightning Experience only.
    • Mobile: Do More on the Go
Salesforce mobile apps help your users stay productive throughout their busy days, no matter where they are. So we’ve been hard at work adding new ways to help your users outside of the office. Salesforce offers improvements to Chatter and many other sales features, so sales professionals can take care of even more business from their phones.
    • Financial Services Cloud: Client Expressed Interests Component, Accelerated Data Loads, and Person Accounts
Users can quickly capture what’s top of mind for their customers, whether it’s retirement savings or a savings account, and see it all on the client profile with the Client Expressed Interests component. Upload large batch sizes lickety-split with Accelerated Data Loads, our enhancements to bulk uploads. Plus, you can leverage person accounts in Financial Services Cloud. And there’s more—keep reading!
    • Health Cloud: Flexible Care Plans, Health Assessments, Care Gaps
With goals decoupled from problems, you can use the Health Cloud data model in the way that’s right for you. Health Cloud helps you identify gaps in a patient’s care, and you can gather survey information to help manage your patients more efficiently.
    • Customization: Lightning Apps in Lightning App Builder, Richer Flow Screens, Time Field
While you’re making your Home and App pages more dynamic, modify your Lightning apps with the same tool: the Lightning App Builder. Make your flows more awesome by embedding custom Lightning components in your screens and showing users which stage of the flow they’re at. Start tracking time-only data with the new Time field type.
